LiliHi. This is my first bulletin board message. Could anyone please help me with finding info about castle conservation projects overseas?
GordonHere's one that's on-going at the moment. http://www.tipp.ie/ballytarsna.htm
Unfortunately the conservation of castles is not high on the priorities list of many governments, and so there is an increasing reliance on individually financed projects like this one.
The following link shows the end result of another. http://fp.kirkburn.f9.co.uk/castlelevan/
Here are some links which will give an idea of government strategies/conservation works in Scotland and Wales. http://www.castlewales.com/cadw_rsk.html

PeterI don't know if this one is still available. I pulled masses of material of it mid last year. www.tioram.org.uk/part1.htm

worth a try.

GordonAs far as I'm aware the work is still ongoing at Tioram.
LiliThank you all so much for your suggestions. I'm interested in volunteering to help with castle conservation projects in the future. I'm from Australia so some planning is involved. Any advice??
LevanSavoy often runs opportunities for folks to learn various restoration skills:

I believe the Scottish Castles Association, and Period Living Magazine run courses too.
